Module Enrolment
All module changes within the Business School must be submitted using the online module change form . The form is only available during the first two weeks of term.
It is your responsibility to ensure that you have the appropriate academic background and subject knowledge for your chosen modules. It is also your responsibility to obtain approval for your module choices from your home university.
You must be enrolled on 60 Exeter credits per semester.
Undergraduate students are not permitted to enrol on postgraduate modules. Postgraduate students may enrol on undergraduate modules with approval from their home university.
The online module change form is only for modules taught within the Business School. To enrol on modules offered by other departments, please refer to the module selection guidance .
How will I be taught?
Our teaching is a combination of lectures, seminars, tutorials and workshops, and attendance is mandatory. You will be taught in English and in class sizes from 20-350 depending on the module.
Assessment methods depend on the module studied, but may include a combination of examinations with coursework and assignments conducted individually or in small groups.
Which modules can I choose?
Level 1 modules introduce the fundamental concepts and skills relevant to each programme. Level 2 modules typically build on this foundation by developing more advanced knowledge and technical skills. Level 3 modules provide opportunities to explore specialist areas in greater depth and at a more advanced level.
It is important to ensure that you have the appropriate academic background and meet any module prerequisites before enrolling.
Students may choose modules from across the Business School, including Accounting, Finance, Economics, Econometrics, Organisational Studies and Management.
How many modules can I study?
Students studying at Exeter for the full academic year take 120 Exeter credits, which is equivalent to 60 ECTS credits. This may include a combination of semester-long and full-year modules.
Students studying at Exeter for one semester take 60 Exeter credits, which is equivalent to 30 ECTS credits. Semester-only students may select modules taught during their period of study only.
Undergraduate exchange students are not permitted to enrol on postgraduate modules. Postgraduate students may enrol on undergraduate modules with approval from their home university.
Further guidance on module selection will be provided during the Business School induction programme.
Please note that module availability for the next academic year cannot be guaranteed. Any module choices agreed before arrival are therefore provisional. Module registration and timetables will be finalised after you arrive at the Business School.
You should expect to be in Exeter during the assessment periods.
Academic issues
In principle, exchange students can select modules from across the University of Exeter, subject to meeting the necessary pre-requisite academic requirements, and gaining approval from their home institution as well as the University of Exeter.
Erasmus students may not take more than 25% of their modules from outside the Business School.
