What modules can I choose?

You can choose from the range of modules offered by the Business School. Please check our Module information and academic issues page carefully for full details on module suitability and eligibility. All module choices must meet the approval of the home university, and are subject to availability and timetabling restrictions.

Please note we will not be able to guarantee module availability for the next academic year so remember that module choices agreed before arrival is provisional. Module registration and timetables will be finalised upon arrival at the Business School.

How many modules am I allowed to choose?

Students staying at Exeter for the whole academic year study 120 Exeter Credits, which is equivalent to 60 ECTS. This can be a combination of semester-long and academic year-long modules.

Students staying at Exeter for one semester only study 60 Exeter Credits, which is equivalent to 30 ECTS. One-semester students can normally only select modules taught solely within one semester.

What happens if I fail a module?

We assume that exchange students do not wish to be entered for referred assessments. However, exchange students are entitled to re-sit any failed exams during the referred examination period in August. It is your responsibility to confirm with the International Development Team that you wish to be entered for any referred assessment by the deadline.

We strongly recommend that you check the assessment requirements with your home university, including the number of credits you are required to obtain during your studies at the University of Exeter. You should also check whether there are any compulsory modules that you are required to pass during the year or semester.

A quick decision will be required after your exam results have been released. Therefore, knowing what is required by your home university beforehand will help to speed up your decision and prevent you from missing the opportunity to take a referred assessment.

How can I get a copy of my transcript?

Your transcript is generated after you complete your studies with us.

Transcripts for Semester One students will be posted by the Student Information Desk (SID) in February.

Transcripts for full-year and Semester Two students will be posted by SID in July.

Two copies per student will be posted to the International Office at your home university.

If you are an independent fee-paying study abroad student, two copies will be posted to your registered home address.

If you require additional copies, you can purchase these from the online store at a cost of £12 per transcript.

The International Development Team can provide interim transcripts during the year.

Who do I contact in order to obtain a reference?

Academic references can be requested via the International Development Team.

Where can I find accommodation?

Please check your options on the Accommodation Office website .

Can one-semester students apply for university accommodation?

There is limited university accommodation available for students staying for one semester only. However, there is a wide range of private accommodation available.

Where can I get support for a disability?

The University of Exeter is committed to supporting disabled students through Accessibility.

Please contact the International Development Team if you require any additional support while studying at the University of Exeter.

Where can I get support for mental health concerns?

The University of Exeter Wellbeing Services team, made up of counsellors and mental health practitioners, are all highly skilled and experienced in recognising how psychological and mental health difficulties can affect your studies.

They are able to offer advice, therapeutic and practical support to help you cope personally and to manage your studies.
