Your MSc FAFM Programme gives you the opportunity to take two attempts at the CFA® exams during your time here at the University of Exeter. To help you prepare for these exams, the University of Exeter has designed - exclusively for the MSc FAFM students - 5 Webinars which will help to give you a head start over the summer. Ideally, you should start making use of these as soon as possible and well before the start of your Programme here at Exeter University in September.

In our experience, many candidates will require more than 300 hours of study per level, and this is why we recommend that you start your studies early, in the summer, before the MSc FAFM commences. Details of the syllabus plan can be found from the link below.

The webinars and Study Session

Statistical analysis of MSc FAFM CFA® candidates suggest that, although the Exeter candidates perform very well in Financial Reporting and Analysis, and other areas, some other sections would benefit most from extra study before the MSc begins. These areas are Ethics, Economics and Fixed Income and we have prepared three webcasts for you to watch now, in order to make a start in understanding their intricacies. CFA® Institute also have an excellent programme study session which we highly recommend you start working on, well ahead of starting the MSc FAFM programme.

On top of that, you will also find a useful introduction to the CFA® exams, and a webinar on how to use your CFA® calculator. If you are not in possession of a CFA® approved calculator yet, don’t worry, you can leave that webinar to when you join us on campus.

  • If you are an offer holder and have not yet arrived at Exeter then you would need to email pgad@exeter.ac.uk and request to change to another course, Admissions would then consider you for the course you would like to change to, and if you meet the criteria you will be issued with an offer.
  • If you decide that you want to change your course after September, then you will need to contact the Student Services Hub who will process the change of course. However, this all depends on if there is space on the course you want to change to and depending on how many weeks into starting FAFM you decided you want to change, could influence the decision made as you may have missed too much of the new course to start.
