Munira started her PhD at the University of Exeter in 2016. Her research is examining the cruise tourism development and its impact on tourism-related businesses at Penang, Malaysia. This study involves multi-methods of qualitative data from semi-structured interviews with stakeholders and tourism-related businesses to explore the perspectives on the development of cruise tourism and its impacts, also quantitative data collected through a survey questionnaire to examine passengers’ behaviour at the shore of Penang. The study aims to provide comprehensive insights for cruise tourism research in Malaysia.
Her broader research interests include micro and small businesses, tourism impact, marine tourism, and heritage tourism.
She is working under the supervision of Prof.Gareth Shaw and Dr.Joanne Connel from the Exeter Business School.
