QTEM programme

Quantitative Techniques for Economics and Management

The University of Exeter Business School is proud to be a member of the prestigious QTEM Network, offering students from specific programmes the opportunity to take part in the quantitatively focused QTEM Programme.

For my QTEM exchange semester, I studied at the Graduate School of Economics at Waseda University in Japan. While there was no specific programme provided for us, we had a list of highly quantitative modules available and I was able to choose a course that I was interested in.

For the second half of the QTEM programme, I undertook an internship with FinTech, a start-up company. I focussed on using both alternative and financial data to make quarterly revenue forecasts for several China Concept Stocks. The internship required both financial modelling and data processing skills, both of which I had built and improved on during my time at Exeter and Waseda.

QTEM stands for Quantitative Techniques for Economics and Management. It is an international network which brings together outstanding students, academic partners and international corporations.

The QTEM Programme aims to prepare students with excellent quantitative and analytical skills to support their future careers as decision makers leading the global business environment.

Students accepted onto the QTEM Programme will spend an additional semester studying at one of the academic partners following the completion of their Exeter Masters. This additional semester is followed by a 1.5 month internship and participation in the QTEM Data Challenge.

Upon completion of these elements, students will be awarded a QTEM Certificate, which demonstrates their skills in analytical and quantitative techniques to support decision-making in an international context.

The QTEM Programme is open to high achieving students enrolled in the following University of Exeter Business School programmes:

As part of the formal application process a GMAT score of 600 - 650 is required. This can also be completed as part of the internal application process.

Please Note: Allocation onto the QTEM Programme is subject to achieving the required marks in the first semester and maintaining a good academic average.

Students will be selected and nominated to QTEM by the University of Exeter following a competitive internal application process. Places will be limited so you should register your interest before applying for a Masters programme by contacting our Global Opportunities Outbound Team at: outbound@exeter.ac.uk

The QTEM Programme does not require any additional tuition fees.
