NHS

Leadership policy and practice in the NHS: Professor Ruth Sealy’s research with all 400+ NHS boards, representing over 1.4 million employees, has driven national policy and individual organisational change. This includes changes to hiring practices and board composition, leading to an increased gender balance on NHS Trust boards, better talent management, greater legitimacy with service-users and better quality decision-making.

Dartmoor National Park Authority

Enabling Dartmoor National Park Authority to prepare for future population growth and the increasing impact of recreation: Academics from the University of Exeter Business School helped Dartmoor National Park Authority (DNPA) apply a Natural Capital Approach to better understand, and mitigate for, the impact new housing would have on recreation in the area. The work directly informed the Authority’s plans and policies, and expanded their thinking around possible mitigation measures, as well as giving staff the confidence to move these conversations forward.

Zoetis

Zoetis is a world leader in animal health and globally the largest medicine producer for companion animals and livestock. Working with experts from the Digit Lab on the first Data Innovation Hub for Animal Health, Zoetis intends to open data hidden in the animal health value chains worldwide,  standardize it and derive predictive analytics from this data.  The first case aims to improve the well-being of animals with the collection of data through wearables and impact policy-making in the area of sustainability. In this project, the University of Exeter and DIGIT Lab is partnering with vHive – Centre for Digital Innovation at the University of Surrey’s School of Veterinary Medicine.

South West Water

Our scientists have been working with South West Water since 2006 to transform the way that upstream water catchments (e.g. moorland reservoirs and lakes) are managed. Since 2017, the NERC-funded SWEEP programme has supported a water management plan for the entire south west region, underpinning the water resilience theme of the company’s 2020-2025 Business Plan. In 2019, Ofwat said it ‘set a new standard for the sector’. South West Water and the University of Exeter are currently working together on the Centre for Resilience in Environment, Water and Waste (CREWW) to pioneer an innovative, whole system approach to complex water challenges.

Tevi

Led by the University, this ground-breaking initiative provides small and medium sized businesses across Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly with expert consultation, recognition and support to grow their businesses in a sustainable way and make the most of our beautiful natural environment. Tevi supports businesses to be more efficient with their use of natural resources and minimise their waste and contribute to the transition towards a circular economy.

JP Morgan

The University of Exeter Business School and J.P. Morgan have enjoyed a close working relationship for several years. This has included multiple student projects for programmes including BSc Business which have led to changes in practice within the organisation as well as MBA consultancy projects and collaboration on research applications and projects around the Future of Work and skills. Our shared interests in employee wellbeing and ED&I have led to collaborations around Black History Month and widening participation as well as Executive Education delivery for aspiring female leaders. Since 2019 we have worked together across a portfolio of Degree Apprenticeships, including standards in digital technology, leadership and management programmes. J.P. Morgan have also collaborated over the development of an innovative financial services programme designed to develop the next generation of staff from school leavers through the first years of their professional career. Most recently this has included staff working in the Investment Banking division.
