Overview
Nicky joined the University of Exeter business school in 2010, before this she worked for Lloyds Banking Group and KPMG as a tax professional. She is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Authority as well as a Fellow & Chartered Accountant with ICAEW.
Nicky teaches UK taxation at undergraduate and master level. Drawing on her experience of working in the tax profession, together with her previous involvement with graduate recruitment, interviewing and training; Nicky innovatively designs classes which enable students to apply their tax knowledge and to develop their professional skills through assimilated real life scenarios.
Nicky co-authors two tax textbooks which are published through Fiscal Publications, with links to the current editions shown in the research section.
Nicky is programme director for the Business School’s WIE “With Industrial Experience” programme. In this role Nicky designs and leads the students’ skills development, assessment and support for the “industrial experience” element on Exeter Business School’s four year WIE programmes (currently 1000 students enrolled). She also collaborates with the employability team to design support and the students’ employability skills development and WIE support community throughout the four year programme.
Nicky is passionate about helping students develop their skills to flourish in the business world.
