Overview
Monica is a Postgraduate Researcher in Organisation Studies. She is investigating perceptions of autism and experiences of (de)stigmatisation in the workplace.
Monica's research seeks to understand how different forms of stigma (public and structural) might be permeating the workplace, creating barriers and contributing to the challenges experienced by autistic employees (stigmatisation). It also aims to explore how autistic individuals are engaging with organisations to actively address stigma (de-stigmatisation).
This study aimed to co-produce knowledge with autistic people in this important field of research, whereby research was conducted ‘with’ autistic people, rather than ‘about’ autistic people.
Qualifications
Monica graduated in Psychology from the University of Madeira (Portugal) and holds a MSc in Advances in Research and Treatments in Psychopathology and Health from the University of Valencia (Spain) and a MSc in Human Resource Management from the University of Exeter.
