Overview

Loretto joined the Business School in 2022 as a PhD Researcher in Leadership Studies. Working with Prof. Ruth Sealy and Greg Molecke, Loretto is researching how board dynamics can contribute to an effective board. Loretto has worked as a governance advisor to the boards of complex organisations for 20 years and continues to support boards while carrying out her PhD.

Qualifications

Grad ICSA (2008), ACIS (2009-2015), Fellow (FCIS/FCG from 2015) from the Chartered Governance Institute Certificate (Degree-level, 2013) and Diploma (Masters-level, 2014) in Company Direction, Fellow (FIoD from 2015), Institute of Directors MSc with Distinction, IT for Strategic Management (2001) from Dublin Technology University & Staffordshire University BSc Hons, Property Economics (1998), from Dublin Technology University & Trinity College Dublin

Career

Loretto has worked in governance for two decades across a number of sectors spanning insurance, banking, asset management, pensions, universities, charities, professional bodies, chartered bodies and regulators. In these roles, she has successfully deployed governance frameworks across multiple jurisdictions, devised solutions which support business aims, ensured proportional regulatory compliance, and raised the profile of the company secretary as an effective business partnering function.

Loretto also served as Trustee for Magpas Air Ambulance for 8 years to 2021, serving as Chair of Remuneration and Nomination Committees. This gave her the opportunity to be involved in a clinical governance focused charity while deploying her corporate governance skills in a non-executive director capacity. Loretto is currently Company Secretary for Publish What You Fund and governance consultant for Local Pensions Partnership.
