Overview

Emma Wood joined the University of Exeter as a Lecturer in 2018, teaching marketing at both undergraduate and postgraduate level. With her practical experience and focus on digital and environmental communications, Emma integrates a global, ethical perspective with real-world skills.

Emma came to the university after a 20 year career in communications, working for multi-national organisations including La Poste, PHS Group and DHL. More recently, Emma has worked in a number of senior consultancy posts specialising in sustainability and environmental communications for clients as varied as clothing manufacturers, the NHS and Heathrow airport.

As an experienced marketing practitioner, Emma led the development of the MSc Digital Marketing (starting September 2022) and is now the Programme Director, bringing a clear focus on employability and future skills to the Programme. Emma's additional responsibilities include Advanced Teaching Practitioner (Assessment) for the Management Department, Employability Academic Lead (Management) and Academic Conduct Officer within the Business School.

Research

Research interests

Emma is the Advanced Teaching Practitioner for the Management Department and has a particular interest in assessment and academic conduct. Her research in this area is focused on 'social sharing' amongst students and the role of digital platforms in supporting enhanced learning and academic practice.

Emma's teaching is focused on digital marketing and she leads on modules at both Undergraduate and Masters level.
