Research projects

Boon Han’s first research agenda focuses on understanding the role of identity in economic decision-making. Some of the projects he is currently working on examine: (i) gender biases in evaluation and feedback provision; (ii) the role of motivated reasoning in driving racial biases; and (iii) social norms in the treatment of gender and sexual minority individuals.

His second research agenda focuses on examining how individuals process information and feedback, as well as the biases that exist in their belief formation process. Some of the projects he is working on in this area examine: (i) individuals’ preferences for information and feedback, and how such preferences depend on their gender and self-confidence; and (ii) the impact of different types of feedback structure in motivating dynamic contributions to public goods.

Several of Boon Han’s work lie in the intersection of these two research agendas. One of his current projects investigates gender differences in the provision of feedback, and how biased feedback provision can affect agents’ belief updating and their incentives to compete.
