Dr Yao Chen

Yao Chen is a Lecturer (Assistant Professor) in Finance at the University of Exeter Business School and a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. He received his PhD in Finance from Warwick Business School. Before joining Exeter, he was at Cardiff University, where he began his academic career in 2017.

Yao’s research lies at the intersection of behavioral finance, empirical asset pricing, and sustainable finance. His work has been published in journals including the Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis and the Journal of Financial Intermediation and has been presented at major international conferences. His research has also received attention beyond academia, including coverage in MarketWatch. He serves as a reviewer for finance journals, including the Review of Financial Studies, and sits on the Scientific Committee of the Global Research Alliance for Sustainable Finance and Investment (GRASFI) and the Program Committee of the Exeter Sustainable Finance Conference.
