Sanchari Roy is Associate Professor of Economics at the Department of Economics, University of Exeter Business School. Prior to joining Exeter in September 2023, Sanchari was Reader in Development Economics at King’s College London. She is also External Research Associate at the Centre for Competitive Advantage in the Global Economy (CAGE) Warwick and Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.

 

Sanchari’s primary area of research is development economics, focusing on gender inequality, education, labour markets and mental health. Her research has been published in leading academic journals like the Review of Economics and Statistics, Economic Journal, Journal of Development Economics, World Development, and her work has received international press coverage in The New York Times, BBC, The Economist, NDTV, The Hindu, etc.
