Simon is a qualified Careers Consultant and Senior Fellow of Advance HE (SFHEA) whose work involves the practical application of career guidance theory, theories of motivation and decision making, labour market and economic research, and positive psychology. In his current role, he designs and delivers career development programmes and support for postgraduate taught students in the Business School, and is the lead Careers Consultant for the Business School's flagship MSc Finance programme.
Simon's work with postgraduate taught students in the Business School involves leading Your Future First (a pre-entry online careers induction course), designing and delivering a programme of career development workshops throughout the year, and providing one-to-one career counselling and coaching.
His role with MSc Finance includes the design and delivery of an embedded career development module, alongside providing one-to-one guidance, to empower students pursuing a career in finance.
Simon also leads a blended learning programme, China Career Ready, to support Chinese students across all faculties in developing a career in China or the UK.
Alongside this work, Simon chairs an AI working group within Student Employability and Academic Success to explore emerging recruitment technologies and AI's impact on careers practitioners, sectors, and the future of work.
