Julian Dyer is a Lecturer in Economics, He is an empirical microeconomist, studying the economics of development in Sub-Saharan Africa with a focus on cultural change and climate adaptation. He is especially interested in the relationship between institutions, culture and how farmers and pastoralists adapt to climate change.

 

He pursues these research interests both by doing fieldwork and conducting field experiments, as well as using machine learning and analysis of large text datasets. In addition to academic work, he has partnered with a number of non-academic development actors in applied consulting work.
