Dr. Inmaculada Adarves-Yorno (PhD, MA, MSc, BSc, CPsychol, AFBPsS) is a social scientist whose work integrates psychology, social identity, leadership, mindfulness, and resilience research. Her research examines how social and psychological processes shape leadership, wellbeing, resilience, and behavioural change across organisational, educational, and community contexts.
Her earlier work in social identity challenged existing approaches to creativity and contributed to extending social identity perspectives within organisational psychology. Her subsequent research expanded into authentic leadership, mindfulness, wellbeing, and transformational development, examining how individuals and groups sustain resilience and self-leadership under conditions of uncertainty and stress.
Her research on mindfulness and social identity informed impactful interventions within the Kenyan Prison Services, contributing to systemic change and wider international impact. More recently, her work has increasingly focused on resilience as a dynamic and cyclical process shaped by psychological, social, biological, and contextual dimensions. As part of this programme, she is developing an emerging Adaptive Resilience Framework examining how individuals and leaders regulate themselves across changing internal and external conditions, challenging more static assumptions about resilience and functioning within organisational contexts.
Through longitudinal and intervention-based research, she examines resilience, mindset, mindfulness, self-compassion, and engagement with resilience practices. Her work aims to develop integrative and evidence-based approaches to resilience interventions and leadership development that bridge rigorous scholarship, transformational education, and societal impact.
Alongside her academic work, Dr. Adarves-Yorno is a Chartered Psychologist with experience as an organisational psychologist, executive advisor, coach, and leadership developer. Her work bridges research and practice, supporting individuals and organisations in developing resilience, leadership, wellbeing, and transformational change.
