Daniele Rinaldo joined the University of Exeter, Department of Economics and Land, Environment, Economics and Policy Institute (LEEP) in September 2021.  He obtained his PhD from the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies, Geneva in 2019 and was the recipient of the Leonid Hurwicz Prize. Subsequently he led a 2-year interdisciplinary research project funded by the Swiss Network for International Studies and was a fellow at the University of Cambridge.

 

Daniele's research lies at the nexus of environmental, development and mathematical economics. Currently he studies the economic drivers of deforestation, optimal resource management under the threat of regime shifts and the economic impact of endemic diseases, with a focus on Sub-Saharan Africa. He also works on probability theory and stochastic analysis, with a focus on nonlinear diffusion processes.

He is also a classical pianist, performing internationally.
