Sian Robinson (She/Her)

Organisational Behaviour and HRM

Sian is a Senior Lecturer in Human Resource Management. She is also the Programme Director for the BSc Business and Management and BSc Business Studies. She teaches Human Resource Management and Business & Management to undergraduate and postgraduate students.

 

Sian is passionate about improving the student experience, especially for inclusivity, linked with her experiences of having ADHD, and for widening participation, as a previous non-standard route entrant to higher education. She has developed inclusive programme-level initiatives, such as the 'Your Toolkit for Success' reframing student support project, introducing Focus/Writing retreats at a programme level, and the creation of a Programme Hub for information. 

Her use of focus/writing retreats is currently being explored at both module and programme level, and has been part of a CIBE Fellowship.
She has also been part of an Education Incubator project based on AI in teamwork for students. 
She is a Senior Fellow of the HEA (SFHEA), an Associate Member of the CIPD and a Certified Business Management Educator (CMBE).

 

Sian acts as an ASPIRE assessor and mentor (FHEA/SFHEA) and mentors within the UoE mentoring programme.
She also acts as a supporting lead for the Neurodiversity Cafe.
She is also a signee of the Inclusive Professionals Commitment.
She is a moderator for CIPD, has a co-authored textbook published with Kogan Page titled 'Strategic Learning and Development Practice. She has two upcoming book chapters that will be published soon.

 

Sian joined the Business School as an adjunct in 2020, and in 2022 became a Lecturer in Human Resource Management (HRM). Before working for the University full-time, Sian was a Lecturer in HRM at UWE Bristol. She also has prior experience working as a business advisor for start-ups, and within HR for a charity.

Sian is a graduate of the University of Exeter, having followed the widening participation route of entry into Undergraduate Year 3 from Exeter College, and following this up with an MSc in HRM, and an ESRC-funded MRes in Management.
