Dr Naheed Bashir

Naheed  is a Lecturer in Innovation, Technology and Entrepreneurship at the University of Exeter Business School. Her research and teaching sit at the intersection of digital transformation, information systems, and innovation, with a particular focus on how organisations use emerging technologies to drive strategic change, develop capabilities, and create business and societal value.

Prior to joining the University of Exeter, she was a Postdoctoral Visiting Researcher in the Department of Entrepreneurship and Strategy at Lancaster University Management School, Lancaster University. She holds a PhD from the Manchester Institute of Innovation Research (MIOIR), Alliance Manchester Business School, The University of Manchester.

Her research examines the transformative role of Artificial Intelligence and digital technologies across sectors including healthcare, education, finance, agriculture, and security systems, particularly in developing-country contexts. She also works on digital innovation in firms, including digital platforms, open innovation, new product development, knowledge management, and the organisational capabilities needed to support digital transformation.

A further strand of her work examines women-led AI-enabled and digitally enabled ventures in developing economies. Her research takes a socio-technical perspective on technological transformation, exploring how digital technologies interact with strategy, organisational change, innovation processes, and broader questions of inclusive and responsible development.

Her teaching interests include digital transformation, Artificial Intelligence (AI) and emerging technologies in business, web and digital analytics, digital innovation, digital leadership, digital business models, and knowledge management. She is committed to research-led and practice-oriented teaching that equips students to understand and respond to digital change in organisations, industries, and entrepreneurial ecosystems.
