About me:

Dr. Melody Kuziwa Jombe is a Zimbabwean academic, Strategic Management lecturer, and Programme Director for BA (Hons) International Business & Modern Languages. Her doctoral research utilised a critical incident technique to explore distress sensemaking in organisations focusing on restructuring strategies, turnaround management and distress causality reflecting her continued interest in resilience, agency, and decision-making in uncertain environments. In 2024, she co-founded the Black Heritage University Groups (B-HUGs) in collaboration with schools within the Ted Wragg Trust. Rooted in principles of Black consciousness, visibility, and representation, B-HUGs provides mentoring, role modelling, and campus immersion experiences for Black high school students in Exeter.  Melody’s work is driven by a commitment to widening participation, reimagining access, and ensuring that the next generation of Black scholars and leaders are not only welcomed into higher education but recognised, empowered, and seen.
