Dr Mihaela Bishop is a Senior Lecturer in Marketing and Management at the University of Exeter. She is the programme director for MSc Management, one of the three flagship programmes in the Business School. She also serves as the programme director for the university's study and work abroad programmes WYA.

She is extremelly passionate about improving education, and, in particular, exploring new and innovative approaches to assessments in higher education. As an educator, she is constantly seeking ways to enhance the learning experience for her students and to better prepare them for the dynamic, ever-changing world they will enter upon graduation. This has led her to experiment with a variety of assessment methods, from case studies and group projects to digital portfolios and gamification.

One of the hallmarks of Mihaela's teaching philosophy is a focus on creating an engaging, interactive and collaborative learning environment. She believes that students learn best when they are actively engaged with the course material and, given the opportunity, to apply their knowledge in practical, real-world scenarios. To this end, she frequently incorporates group discussions, guest lectures and field trips into her coursework and all the programme she leads, enabling students to learn from both their peers and industry experts.

Throughout her career, Dr Bishop has been deeply passionate about research in the field of sustainability, with a particular focus on food waste. This is an area that she finds endlessly fascinating, as it sits at the intersection of environmental, economic and social challenges. Her work in this domain has involved collaborating with industry partners to develop innovative solutions for reducing food waste in households.
