Dr. Andreas Georgiou, FHEA, joined the University of Exeter Business School in February 2023 as a Lecturer in Sustainable Entrepreneurship (E&R). He holds a PhD and a MRes in Management Studies from ESADE Business School, as well as a BSc in Accounting and Finance from the Athens University of Economics and Business. In 2022, he held a visiting research academic position for 3 months at Oxford Brookes Business School and its Centre for Business, Society and Global Challenges.

 

Andreas currently explores place-based, community-based and sustainable forms of entrepreneurship and organizing, with an emphasis on their emergence, their internal dynamics and their societal and environmental impact. He is also interested in the role of mainstream firms and other organizations towards more developed, sustainable and resilient regions. He has presented his work at several international conferences and has published in leading academic journals, such as Organization Theory, Business Strategy and the Environment and European Management Journal.

 

Developing his profile in Exeter, Andreas has lately received research, teaching, service and impact awards. One of his paper received, among others, the ISBE President’s Best Early Career Researcher Paper Award (2025). Among hundreds of colleagues at the University of Exeter Business School, he was also recognized for providing the best feedback to students (2025). Also recognized for going 'Above and Beyond' in building a community and research culture at the sub-department, Andreas endeavors to support the entrepreneurial ecosystem through becoming an Enactus advisor, participating in pitch panels, and mentoring entrepreneurial teams. His latest research on elderly care units received a patient partnership award, as well as generous funding by the Hellenic Foundation for Research & Innovation (250.000 €). He recently became a Fellow of the Advance HE.
