Overview
Dr Chen Vui Lim is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Exeter. His teaching specialism is in Accounting and he has taught Accounting courses at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Prior to joining academia in 2000, Dr Lim undertook a MSc in Finance at Lancaster University and before that, worked as an auditor in one of the Big Four accountancy firms in the UK, where he qualified as a chartered accountant in 1997. Dr Lim completed a PhD in Accounting on a part time basis whilst teaching at the University of Exeter, and researched into the impact of managerial flexibility on accounting-based equity valuation. Although teaching is now his main responsibility, he retains a keen interest in the latest development of financial reporting research and practice.

Current teaching duty is in the area of:- Financial accounting and reporting: which aims to provide relevant information about an entity that is useful to various interested parties in making economic decisions. It is a study of how accounting serves as an information system in business.
Dr Lim has previously taught the following subjects:
- Management accounting: which aims to provide managers with relevant information to plan, manage, and control their organisations at both operational and strategic levels.
- Financial analysis: the study of how financial information can be critically analysed and applied to various decision contexts.
