Mr Jamie Stevenson
Lecturer
Finance and Accounting
About me:
Former investment analyst at a European investment bank. Voted No 1 equity analyst for his sector in Institutional Investor and Extel Surveys every year from 1989 to 1998, before becoming head of equity research. After retiring in 2004, Jamie joined the University of Exeter Business School as a visiting lecturer to teach a CFA-linked module in corporate finance. He has since joined the staff of the Business School and developed the Investment Analysis Dissertation module. This is a double-credit module testing the skills of students in applying financial statement analysis and equity valuation modelling to a company case study. Jamie uses his long experience in applied investment analysis to help students in making the transition from the theory to the practice of corporate finance. He has also served as a non-executive director for three UK-quoted public companies in the building sector.
Interests:
- Quality of corporate reporting and warning signs of misleading financial statements.
- Fundability of pension obligations in an era of low interest rates.
- The differences between academic theory and analyst practice in equity valuation modelling.
