Tim joined the Business School as a lecturer in Finance & Accounting in 2020. He is a Chartered Accountant who trained and qualified in London while working on the audits of a variety of UK public limited companies. This gave him excellent experience of the ways in which companies report on their finances and on their results. He led corporate finance reviews of acquisition targets, analysing and reporting on the financial performance and potential of companies. He gained experience of advising AIM-listed and owner-managed businesses in spells with regional accountancy firms outside London.
For much of his career, he worked in the relatively unusual role of Bursar and Business Manager in the education sector, where his financial experience was an important element of the broader skills required to undertake this strategic and operational management role.
Tim has a degree in French & German from the University of Exeter.
Away from his desk, Tim is a keen marathon runner.

Tim has a particular interest in financial reporting and in the analysis of a business through its annual report and other published financial information. He maintains that reading and interpreting annual reports should not be the preserve of accountants or analysts alone, but that this is a useful skill that anyone can acquire.
