Overview

Laura joined the business school in 2015 as an Associate Research Fellow for the project “Sustainable Supply Chain Management in the Colombian Agricultural Sector” in collaboration with the School of Management at Universidad de los Andes in Colombia. This newly establishes collaboration is supported by the Newton Caldas Institutional Links Fund from the British Council. The institutional Links is part of the UK’s official development assistance programme that provides grants for the development of research and innovation between the UK and partner countries.

This project has the objective of evaluating different forms of collaboration between companies (Colombian and multinational) and their agricultural suppliers for both, domestic and international markets. The project will expand from its necessarily focused research to engage companies, cooperatives and government agencies in a much-needed debate about who derives value from food production, processing, distribution and sale.

Laura finished the One Planet MBA with Distinction and was awarded with the 'Best Consultancy Project 2014'. The project consisted in a gap analysis of international policies and initiatives addressing soil degradation issues, it was a contribution to the Soil Leadership Academy developed by UNCCD and Syngenta. She also holds a Master of Science and a Bachelor of Engineering in Chemical Engineering with a focus in sustainability and bioprocess.

Her industry background includes over 5 years of experience working in the food and beverage sector in Colombia, including 3 years of research and development for the Colombian Coffee Growers Federation.
