Chris joined the Business School as a lecturer in Finance in 2020. He has 25 years of investment industry experience. He started his investment career as a quantitative analyst in London, modelling Japanese equity markets, leading to a move to Tokyo as an investment manager. He then moved to the “dark side” (a global investment bank), joining the hedge fund desk, selling equities and more complex products to the rapidly growing client base. Chris later joined one of these clients as a portfolio manager, based initially in Hong Kong, then Singapore, investing in long and short opportunities in Asian (primarily Japanese) equities and other instruments.
He has a degree in Mathematics from Manchester University, a Master's degree in Computation from the University of Oxford and holds a range of professional qualifications including the CFA. Chris also holds a PGCE and is a qualified Maths teacher.
