ESRC/RDI advanced postgraduate training in finance workshops

The Advanced Postgraduate Training in Finance programme is part of the ESRC's Researcher Development Initiative and aims to ensure that PhD students and young researchers in the subject area of finance at UK universities are exposed to the teaching of leading researchers from the UK and abroad. This is to ensure that these PhD students and young researchers are made aware of developments in advanced financial research methodology in core areas of their discipline, in order to assist in their training for a career as a financial researcher in an academic, government or commercial environment.

The programme consists of a series of advanced training modules in the three core areas of finance:

Corporate finance, asset pricing, and financial econometrics.

Each module has a 30-hour teaching schedule spread of 5 consecutive days from Monday to Friday. The teaching format includes lectures, tutorial seminars, group work and where necessary computer laboratory sessions.
