The vision for Xfi began to form early in 2001 when the University received a multi-million pound donation from an anonymous benefactor. Since that time, the University has been exploring the most effective way of ensuring that the benefaction will provide a lasting legacy for the University of Exeter.
The building of Xfi enabled the University of Exeter Business School to build on its outstanding reputation for research and teaching in the fields of finance and investment. In 1973, the University was the first to launch a Master's programme in finance and investment.
The MSc in Finance and Investment continues to attract participants from all over the world and has a distinguished body of alumni working in the City of London and financial institutions world-wide.
