The Xfi Centre for Finance and Investment is a graduate teaching and research institute with a commitment to be an internationally recognised centre for excellence in financial market research. Resources for research and teaching in Xfi are outstanding, having been made possible by a multi-million-pound benefaction.
Xfi is based at the University of Exeter's beautiful Streatham campus in the south-west of England, and is part of the Business School. The School has an impressive portfolio of master's programmes, from the MBA through to the MSc in Finance and Investment. The foundation of all Xfi activity is its portfolio of innovative world-class research conducted by a respected international faculty and continuing Exeter's long tradition of teaching and research in finance and investment.
Finance research at Exeter is characteristically collaborative and empirical in nature. Xfi continues in this tradition, building its research themes around the performance of financial markets, closely tuned to both the current preoccupations and future changes in the global finance industry.
The vision for Xfi began to form early in 2001 when the University received a multi-million pound donation from Ian Henderson. Since that time, the University has been exploring the most effective way of ensuring that the benefaction will provide a lasting legacy for the University of Exeter.
The building of Xfi enabled the University of Exeter Business School to build on its outstanding reputation for research and teaching in the fields of finance and investment. In 1973, the University was the first to launch a Master's programme in finance and investment.
The MSc in Finance and Investment continues to attract participants from all over the world and has a distinguished body of alumni working in the City of London and financial institutions world-wide.
