Ask me about the work I do with Clients
I help people to analyse their own organisations more effectively, looking back at where the organisation has come from and how its culture and systems have developed. My role is to assist in the development of strategic thinking and the understanding of strategic options to help organisations navigate their way through complex and uncertain times. I challenge organisations to think about their primary purpose, their core beliefs, their stakeholders and the people they serve, and their values and mission, and then help them to create strategic options around these core principles.
I also work with people who want to communicate their ideas, especially in writing, to develop better and more effective communications.
Ask me anything about the work I do with the CLS /Business School
I am a fellow of the Centre for Leadership Studies at Exeter. I have also taught for the last ten years on the MBA Programme, both full-time and part-time. At present I teach and co-teach several modules on the innovative One Planet MBA including ‘The Human Factor in Sustainable Organisations’, and am writing papers on leadership and on management history.
Tell me everything about
- Your organisation, how it functions, what its culture is
- Your views on how to manage through the present crisis and face the future with confidence
- Why you are in business? What do you really believe the purpose of your business is, and what it exists to do? If you can answer that question, then I believe all other questions can be answered in time.
Here is what you should know about working with me
I am not an ordinary consultant. I hate PowerPoint. I don’t like long formal presentations. I like to see what is happening in organisations, not just sit and talk about it. I don’t really do numbers - that is what accountants are for. Values, ideals, beliefs, cultures, myths, facts and fictions: every organisation abounds with these. Helping others to unpick these and make sense of them is what I do.
