Background

Carolyn set up People Inclusive in 2004, a consultancy company specialising in improving business performance with a focus directly on people and the potential they create in organisations. Carolyn has in depth experience of working on strategic people issues, whether in learning and development, employee engagement or leadership. She is also an executive coach. Her background over the last twenty-five years has included working for a variety of clients both regional and national, including UK Skills, Sector Skills Councils, CIPD and recently Investors in People, as well as a broad range of well-known public and private organisations. She has considerable experience in management education and learning as she spent ten years with the Open University Business School and then five with Learndirect. Most recently Carolyn has written a mentor guide for managers and she currently runs a professional mentor network.

Career

Before becoming a successful consultant and coach Carolyn was Regional Manager for Learndirect and prior to that The Open University Business School, holding both posts in the south west region of the UK. She was also at the Open University Business School in Milton Keynes and at Henley Management College in the late 1980’s. Before this she had a career in managing arts and creative companies.

Business and leadership coach, facilitator, director of projects and seminar programmes, author of various publications, south west Ambassador for National Training Awards.

Carolyn has consulted with a considerable variety of companies, professional institutes, universities and small and medium sized enterprises. Her role with the National Training Awards is UK wide and includes all sectors.

Personal statement

My clients describe me as a great communicator and networker with a real commitment to finding solutions and ensuring consultancy assignments are successful. I’m very flexible and responsive to change; I think holistically but am generally as comfortable with the ‘big picture’ as I am with details. My general approach is to champion people and ideas, stimulate thinking and help change behaviour, but effective thinking is always the key to this! I am well used to dealing with complex issues and like to bring a wealth of insights and solutions; much of my approach is informed by positive psychology and building on strengths.

I am a good recreational skier, enjoy tennis and have a lifelong interest in the arts, particularly theatre and dance.
