Professor Milla McLachlan
Milla McLachlan is a senior advisor at Rapid Result Institute and a visiting Professor in Human Nutrition at the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, Stellenbosch University, South Africa. She was academic leader of the university’s inter-faculty Food Security Initiative (FSI) from 2011-2013, and is past Director of the Southern Africa Food Lab, a multi-stakeholder initiative to facilitate transformation towards social and environmental sustainability in the regional food system. Previously, she served as Nutrition Advisor at the World Bank in Washington, DC, and as a senior policy analyst at the Development Bank of Southern Africa.
She holds a PhD and MA from Michigan State University, an MA in Transpersonal Psychology (Ecopsychology) from Naropa University in Boulder, Colorado, and BSc and Honors BSc degrees from Stellenbosch University. She has published several peer-reviewed journal articles, book chapters and review papers, and co-edited Combating Malnutrition: Time to Act, a World Bank publication on the need for innovation in nutrition change strategies.
