Professor Scott Drimie
Dr Scott Drimie the Director of the Southern African Food Lab (www.southernafricafoodlab.org), which is a multi-stakeholder initiative that brings together diverse role-players in the regional food system to identify and pilot innovative means to achieve long-term, sustainable food security.
He is an Associate Professor (Extraordinary) in the Department of Interdisciplinary Health Sciences at Stellenbosch University where he chairs the Advisory Board of the University’s Food Security Initiative. In addition he serves as a Senior Lecturer (Extraordinary) at the Sustainability Institute, School of Public Leadership at Stellenbosch University.
His research has focused on food security and the role of multiple stressors affecting the wellbeing of vulnerable groups. Primarily focused on the AIDS epidemic in recent years, his research emphasises threats to achieving food security, enhancing livelihoods and improving environmental management in the developing world. More recently, Dr. Drimie has been involved in research focused on pathways between agriculture and livelihood programming and nutrition outcomes.
