In this talk I will discuss an ethnographic approach to research in and with corporations to understand how corporate cultures influence technological change. We will get a glimpse inside a global hi-tech firm marketing department that is busy with putting together business-to-business solutions and sending them out into the world. This very process will become focus for analysis as we will look at product launch as corporate practice. What kind of knowledge and skills are involved in accomplishing a launch? How do descriptions of technologies form and circulate? How does the corporation get a momentum in the emerging technologies worlds? We will also explore methodological questions concerning the role of a researcher in corporation, and what is tellable about corporate practices and what is not.
