I hope to throw light on the changing social contract between our social institutions, like the health service, policing, education, banking, transport, the BBC, etc., and the people they serve. What is the nature of the relationship between the people in institutions, the work they do and their leaders? I hope to delve beneath the surface of cognitive approaches to organisational task and purpose in order to understand the place of values and culture that often get taken for granted, weakens, turn into assumptions, and ceases to have a place in people’s minds and behaviour.
