In this presentation, strategy is regarded as an emergent property of organization based on acts of individual will and a sense of shared destiny. As traditional forms of strategic management are not able to bring about the conditions necessary to support the creation of such an authentic form of strategy, these are rejected in favour of a systems based approach which is able to provide these conditions. An on-going project with an independent school in the United Kingdom illustrates the use of the ideas in practice.
