Yuwen Wang, who is currently studying on the MSc Finance and Investment Programme, has been presented with a prestigious CISI Educational Trust Award of £1000 to support her ambitions for a financial services career. Yuwen, was nominated for the award by The University of Exeter Business School for her academic excellence.

The CISI Educational Trust Awards annually celebrate achievement amongst students studying CISI accredited coursers around the UK, at both Undergraduate and Postgraduate Level. In the 2018 awards winners received a combined total of £23,000.

In addition to the nomination, each winner was invited to submit an essay for the opportunity to attend an interview with the Educational Trust and a chance to achieve a further financial award based on interview performance, a general knowledge test, and knowledge of the CISI. The essay title for 2017 was: "What is MiFID II? Who gains and who loses from its introduction?”

On receiving the award Yuwen has said: “It was a privilege to be nominated as one of the top performing postgraduate students by the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment. The interview gave me a good opportunity to discuss the in-depth insights with trustees and other candidates. The achievement is also a credit to the University and all of the people who have inspired and helped me towards this success. This award will not only be a lasting record of my outstanding achievement for my postgraduate study, but be a starting point of my future career.”

Dr Jane Shen, Programme Director of the MSc Finance and Investment programme said: “Yuwen is a very worthy recipient of this prestigious award. She has demonstrated excellence in all aspects of her study, and I am very pleased to see her receive such significant recognition for this. I have no doubt that Yuwen will have a very successful career in the finance sector and that this award will be a great springboard for her.”
