Business School Sponsors GB SUP and Paddleboard Team
The University of Exeter Business School is proud to announce its sponsorship of the GB SUP and Paddleboard Team after developing close links through Business School Lecturer Dr Holly Henderson, a member of the GB team.
The team recently competed in the ISA World Championships in Ri Yue Bay, Wanning, China where the GB team achieved its best ever result placing 10th overall. Dr Holly Henderson placed an impressive 9th position in both the Paddleboard Distance and Technical races, despite sustaining an Achilles tendon injury.
The GB SUP and Paddleboard Team is self-funded with no government support, and team members are actively engaged in regular fund raising events to attract sponsorship to continue competing in international events. All of the team juggle their paddling commitments with full time jobs or education.
“Having the University of Exeter Business School sponsoring the GB SUP and Paddleboard Team is fantastic and means so much. Myself and the team couldn’t have represented Great Britain at the ISA World Championships without support like this.” Commented Dr Holly Henderson, GB SUP and Paddleboard Team member and Management Lecturer at the Business School.
The GB team consists of 12 riders and a Team Manager. The disciplines for the ISA World Championships are gender equal and include: Distance & Technical SUP, Distance and Technical Paddleboard, SUP Sprints and SUP Surfing. The team includes some internationally established riders and some young paddlers eager to make their mark on the international scene.
“It is a privilege to support in this endeavour and we are very proud of our colleague Holly and the rest of the team who have surpassed previous competition results. On behalf of the Business School I’d like to congratulate them for their excellent performance at the ISA World Championships and wish them all the best in their 2019 competitions!” commented David Boughey, Associate Dean at the University of Exeter Business School.
The University of Exeter Business School will continue to support the team, and those interested can keep up to date with the team’s activities on social media: Facebook @britishsurfingteam.
