Business School students win UK finals of finance competition
A team of five students from the University of Exeter Business School were this week celebrating their victory in the Chartered Financial Analysts (CFA) Institute Research Challenge. They will go on to compete in the European final in mid April.
The CFA Institute Research Challenge is an annual global competition which provides university students with hands-on mentoring and intensive training in financial analysis and professional ethics. Each student participant is tested on their analytic, valuation, report writing and presentation skills and gains real-world experience as they assume the role of a research analyst.
The Exeter team beat ten other universities to lift the trophy. Last year more than 3,000 students from over 650 universities, 89 businesses, and 106 societies in 55 countries and territories participated in the Challenge.
Jamie Stevenson, one of the mentors of the team said: “The team thoroughly deserved its victory and should be extremely proud of its performance, whatever the outcome of the European finals. They were also a delightful team to tutor.”
The five team members are Yazhen Zhong, Jianfei Shen, Zhengjie Chen, Yating Luo, and Jing Ying.
