Professor Annie Pye

Forum now open for students

Earlier this month, the Queen performed the official opening of the £48 million Forum.

It includes a new Student Services Centre, an extended and refurbished library with 100% more seating and PCs, new technology-rich learning spaces including the first ‘butterfly’ touch-screen tables for group work in any UK university, a 400-seat lecture theatre, retail and catering outlets, a landscaped piazza and the new University reception. The Forum is large enough to accommodate 330 double-decker buses; it has 1,229 roof panels , 400 doors and 85 toilets.

As part of celebrations on the day, Professor Annie Pye from the Business School was invited to take part in a session showcasing highlights of the research undertaken across the University. Professor Pye was asked to talk about her 25 year long series of ESRC-funded studies of corporate directing, described by Sir Adrian Cadbury as “groundbreaking”.

The session was held in the brand new Forum auditorium in front of an invited audience from across Devon and Cornwall and from where The Queen officially opened the new building.
