Congratulations to our Business Challenge 2011-2012 winning teams

Congratulations to all of the students in the winning teams that were represented at the Award Ceremony and Celebratory Reception for the Business School’s 2011-2012 Business Challenge for 1st year students on Monday 19 March.

Congratulations to all of the students in the winning teams that were represented at the Award Ceremony and Celebratory Reception for the Business School’s 2011-2012 Business Challenge for 1st year students on Monday 19 March.

700 1st year Business School students managed to complete the Challenge between 16 January and 11 February in mixed disciplinary teams of up to 5 students. Using an online business simulation, students were required to set up and run their own business over the four week period and submit a short team statement that reflected on their experiences at the end of the activity.

During the Award Ceremony, certificates were awarded to students in teams that came top in the following categories:

  • Best Total Overall Business Performance
  • Best Asset Management Performance
  • Best Financial Performance
  • Best Human Resource Management Performance
  • Best Investment in Future Performance
  • Best Market Performance
  • Best Marketing Effectiveness Performance
  • Best Wealth Performance
  • Best Company Mission Statement
  • Most Active Team (i.e. based on time spent interacting with the online system)
  • Best Team Written Statement
  • Team that made the biggest improvement

The ceremony was opened by Professor Robin Mason, Dean, University of Exeter Business School and the certificates were awarded by Steve Kirby, Lead Partner, Healthcare, Ernst & Young and Professor Neil Armstrong, Senior Deputy Vice Chancellor, University of Exeter.

The top 12 teams in the Total Overall Performance category will represent the University of Exeter Business School in a national Business Challenge next year and the top 5 teams in the Total Overall Performance category will be attending a dinner on 2nd May that is being held in their honour and hosted by representatives from the Challenge sponsors, Ernst & Young.

Special congratulations are due to the team that came in first place in the Total Overall Performance Category – Mark Thicket, Tsz Tang, Philippa White, Wang Hong (all pictured below) and Antonios Antoniadis – Team ‘Ideal’.
