Professor Mats Alvesson
Business School Visiting Professor wins prestigious award
Mats Alvesson, a Visiting Professor at the Centre for Leadership Studies (CLS) has won one of Europe’s most prestigious awards, becoming a Wallenberg Scholar.
Created by the Knut and Alice Wallenberg foundation, Wallenberg Scholars is a relatively new programme aimed at supporting and stimulating some of the most successful researchers at Swedish universities. The universities were invited to nominate individual researchers who, due to their research and development potential, will prove themselves to be the leading academics of the future.
Prof Alvesson is currently leading an international research project into branding and identity, with which several people at Exeter are involved. Specifically, the Exeter team are looking at branding of leadership development, of leaders, and of business schools.
The award will give Professor Alvesson three million Sw. Kronor each year for five years towards his research.
