Development Plans to Go Ahead

The Business School's plans for a new building to be completed in early 2011 have received final approval from the University Council. Planning permission for the project was received in January 2009, and the Council’s approval now leaves the way clear for this £18 million project to begin. Enabling work commences in June, and building on the site will begin in July.

The new building will provide research, teaching, learning and social space for the Business School. It will enable the it to increase considerably its capacity and enhance the student experience in light of strong demand for places on its programmes, More information about the new building project.

The University Council also approved plans for the Student Forum, a campus-wide project that will feature an extended and refurbished Library, new learning spaces, ‘frontline’ student services, catering and retail outlets, a landscaped plaza and University reception. This is part of a £450 million capital investment programme designed to propel the University into the top 10 by 2012.
