Xfi Designated SII Centre of Excellence
At an official ceremony attended by representatives from the University of Exeter and the Securities & Investment Institute (SII) , the Xfi centre at the University of Exeter has been designated an SII Centre of Excellence.
Since its launch in 2004, the Xfi centre has provided students in the School of Business and Economics with leading edge facilities and academic programmes. The SII Centre of Excellence designation means that future graduates from Xfi’s Masters programme in Finance and Investment will be eligible for the Award of the SII Diploma and will therefore receive a globally recognised, professional certificate in addition to their Masters degree.
Professor Ian Tonks, Director of the Xfi Centre, said “As a result of this designation, Exeter joins an elite group of universities identified as providing outstanding educational opportunities in the specialist securities and investment industry. I am delighted that Exeter and the Xfi Centre, with its record of academic and professional excellence, will be able to collaborate further with the SII and its widely known and accepted market-based qualifications. I am sure that this association will provide immediate benefits for our students, significantly enhancing their employability.’’
Ruth Martin, Managing Director of SII, who ratified the SII/Exeter agreement, said: “We are delighted to have appointed the Exeter Xfi Centre a Centre of Excellence. The designation will offer Xfi Centre graduates a significant head start when progressing their financial services careers. SII membership supports their continuing professional development throughout their careers in the industry to ensure their skills are kept up to date and relevant.”
