Business Experience module

The Business Experience module is designed for Year 1 and 2 undergraduates to encourage students to enhance their employability through a guided programme of study and practical business experience.

Direction is provided through subject-based seminars, interactive electronic resources and personal guidance.

An understanding of the key elements of the selection and recruitment process, raising self-awareness of key skills and competencies and developing the reflective skills required for Continuous Professional Development and future career management will be provided.

Students are required to participate in an approved work placement, organised by themselves, for a minimum of 140 hours (4 weeks). This can be undertaken during or after the taught element of the module. All assignments need to be submitted by mid-August.

It was exciting to have the chance to do something that would have a real impact on a local business.

Business Project module

The aim of the Business Project module is to give students the opportunity to combine investigation into an authentic business challenge with a more in-depth research report. This not only offers links with potential employers but demonstrates understanding of the application of business principles in a real-world situation.

Many of the projects are based on local companies and the students are encouraged to have a business sponsor for their project. Many students make presentations to the businesses at the draft stage of their report and incorporate the company’s responses into the report’s recommendations and conclusions.
