Alumni reception at Birmingham’s Repertory Theatre

Exeter alumni in the Midlands gather for ‘Business in Birmingham’ networking reception

Exeter graduates and Business School students brushed up on their networking skills during an alumni reception at Birmingham’s Repertory Theatre. Ron Mendes (Physics 1972) Group Chairman at Vistage International, was the evening’s keynote speaker, giving a presentation about ‘Effective Networking’ in which he detailed the techniques that we must employ to make new contacts and increase our networks.

Alumni were joined by Exeter final-year students, who travelled up to see how Ron’s methods, and Exeter’s alumni network, could broaden their career prospects.

After the presentation, guests had the opportunity to put the methods they had learned straight into practice over drinks and canapés.

Helen Baird, current BA Management with Marketing with Industrial Experience student said: "The Business in Birmingham event was a fantastic opportunity to interact with Business School alumni from different sectors, whilst taking on some great tips and hints in how to effectively network from the Keynote Speaker Ron Mendes. I would highly recommend students get involved with the employability events on offer within the Business School as they can increase your confidence no end while giving you valuable experience and knowledge into how to improve your skills and enhance future career prospects."

Matt Davey, Business School College Registrar also commented "It was great to see Exeter graduates in the Midlands networking with current Business School students, integrating them into our thriving alumni community and also passing on their valuable expertise and knowledge of the world of employment."
