Dr Laura Phillips

Dr. Phillips first joined the Business School in 2007 as a Knowledge Transfer Associate and doctoral candidate. After completing her PhD, she continued at the school as a Research Fellow and is currently a Lecturer within the Management Department. During this time, Laura has worked on a number of research programmes including the KT-Box, an EPSRC supported Knowledge Transfer Award; the EPSRC/S4T programme; contract research with Rolls Royce; and as a research assistant to an ESRC Advanced Institute of Management (AIM) Service Fellowship award. Recently, Laura has been involved in the HAT project, a £1.2m multi-disciplinary project funded by RCUK (www.hubofallthings.com).

Laura is an active member of the service research community, internally within the Centre for Innovation and Service Research, as well as externally. She co-manages an independent ‘service research group’ discussion forum on LinkedIn with over 900 global members and regularly participates in research meetings/seminars at the University of Warwick and international service conferences.

Dr Phillips has 7 years of experience in researching business model change and innovation, and the related concept of value, with a special interest in the contexts of servitization and digital disruption (i.e. IoT). Dr Phillips has worked on numerous research projects studying these phenomena, including: the EPSRC/S4T programme; the KT-Box, an EPSRC supported Knowledge Transfer Award; and industry funded research contracts with Rolls Royce. Most recently, Laura has been involved in the HAT project, a £1.2m multi-disciplinary project funded by RCUK, tasked to explore future business models made possible by a smart platform for the home.
