Prior to joining the University of Exeter in 2021, Franklin Maduko was a postdoctoral fellow at the economics and business department of Central European University, working mainly on the EU Horizons 2020 RESPECT Project.

Franklin research interest borders on topics in international trade, trade policy, international finance, and private sector development. He is mainly interested in developing new methods for estimating firm-level efficiency, uncovering the drivers of firm-growth and efficiency, and understanding how trade policies and intellectual property rights shape the patterns of trade and its impact on welfare.

His research applies micro-econometric methods and structural econometric models. Recently, he has been working on understanding the impact of the COVID-19 Pandemic on the private sector in developing countries

My main research interests are in international trade and private sector development. I am interested in developing new methods for measuring firm-level efficiency and performance and its drivers.
